buttress thread over 24 inches
buttress thread over 24 inches
(OP)
Does anybody have any suggestions as to how to design a buttress thread for a major diameter of 60"?
The standard forms go up to a major diameter of 24". The machinery's handbook suggests the pitch should be 2*major diameter/15. If I went with this my pitch would be 8 with a TPI of 0.125. Is the scaling linear or could I get away with a smaller pitch?

The point is, you need features of, uh, sturdy, geometry.
Or consider a plurality of smaller fasteners, like a SuperBolt.
