Narrow Groove welding technical details.
(OP)
Hello,
I'm working on Narrow Groove Welding of Carbon Steel for pressure Vessels (SA 516 Gr. 70)
I donot want to go for Backing strip method. Hence prefer the Back gouging method.
Wanted to know from where can i get the Groove design detail and the consumable detail along with the current and voltage , speed settings for the same.

Give us a little more info on process, material thickness, etc. and we may be able to help.
Your welding procedure for your pressure vessel will have to be per ASME Section IX.

Well the thickness of the vessel as mentioned above is 100mm and materail of const. SA 516 Gr. 70.
I don't have the copy mentioned by Carburize' "Developments in Pressure Vessel Technology-3" Edited by R W Nichols - Applied Science Publishers - London
I would be using SAW ( Submerged arc welding )
Would also like to know if any standard Nozzle design is available for Narrow Groove welding.
Thanks.
Qalab.

If your location is outside the US, I would highly recommend you contact esab (see below). These folks can help you with narrow groove submerged arc welding equipment and development for your shop application.

Do you have square wave SAW power supplies or conventional supplies. Multi wire or single wire?
