Positioning TEXT in 2006

Positioning TEXT in 2006

(OP)
I've looked through the FAQs - this has gotta be simple answer.  In earlier versions of SW, it was fairly easy to position 'text' wherever I wanted.  Now, in 2006, it's asking for a sketch or curve.  And I when I select the sketch - it seems to put the text where SW wants it.  What am I missing?

RE: Positioning TEXT in 2006

I normally sketch a construction line and dim its location.  I then use either the left, right, or center justification.
