Use of Banjo Fittings in Diesel Fuel systems

Use of Banjo Fittings in Diesel Fuel systems

Use of Banjo Fittings in Diesel Fuel systems

(OP)
A banjo fitting normally has the threads wetted by the media passing through the fitting.

My concern is that in a very clean system, e.g diesel fuel (post-filter) there is some possibility that debris from the (aluminum) threads may contaminate the system if it is not carefully flushed.

Comments appreciated.

RE: Use of Banjo Fittings in Diesel Fuel systems

buy new ones if you have rusty old ones...  yes there's a possibility but it's quite remote.   you can always replace it with a 90* fitting and a hose end if your worried but diesel and aluminum are friends

I guess I wasn't clear - the question is theoretical. I was looking more for design direction as to if thread-wetted fittings are considered acceptable in modern fuel systems, or whether they should be avoided to reduce the risk of contamination.

RE: Use of Banjo Fittings in Diesel Fuel systems

Post-filter banjo fittings are fairly common on Diesel engines. With qood quality control it should not be a problem.
