How do I optimize the wide screen display with CATIA V5?

How do I optimize the wide screen display with CATIA V5?

How do I optimize the wide screen display with CATIA V5?

(OP)
I found the following information about this question, but can anybody show me the method or command to operate or set up the CATIA software to solve this problem?

"When using a large monitor (like a 23” flat screen or the HP nw8240 Mobil Workstation), a circle in V5 will appear as an ellipse due to the 16:9 ratio used by the device. Below is an example of a configuration that outlines the different points to check to optimize the screen utilization with CATIA V5.

For the monitor:

L2335 flat panel offering a 23" viewable image area with a screen opening of 19.53"x12.24" (16:9 ratio), resolution of 1920x1200 @60Hz
Setup: Menu > Image Control > Custom Scaling > One to One

On HP-UX:

C8000 with FireGL X3
Setup: use the 'setmon' utility to change the resolution to 1920x1200 @60Hz, and restart the X Server. You can also use SAM to access this menu.
CATIA detects the mode used by the Xserver and automatically adjusts the visualization parameters. For CATIA V5, you can switch in Full Screen mode (View menu) and display the rotation tool which will appear as a circle.

On Windows:

nw8240 with ATI FireGL V5000
Setup: change the screen resolution to 1920x1200
All circles in V5 will appear as an ellipse as CATIA uses a 1280x1024 default resolution. CATIA V5 uses 4 environment variables to get the information about the screen resolution and monitor (this feature was originally developed for high end visualization solutions). Note that future versions of PTF (Performance Tuning Framework) will include this feature.

For nw8240:
CATWidthPixelOfScreen = 1920
CATHeightPixelOfScreen = 1200 (ratio : 1920/1200 = 1.6)
CATHeightMMOfScreen = 207
CATWidthMMOfScreen = 207*1.6 = 331.2

For HP L2335 23" flat screen:
CATWidthPixelOfScreen = 1920
CATHeightPixelOfScreen = 1200 (ratio : 1920/1200 = 1.6)
CATWidthMMOfScreen = 500
CATHeightMMOfScreen = 500/1.6 = 312.5 "

Since you didn't specify, I'm going to make 2 assupmtions:

1) you are using Windows XP
2) you are using one of the monitors listed

Both of the things that you need to do (based on these assumptions) are done outside of Catia - you don't need to change anything in Catia at all.

First, the environmental variables: Click the "start" tab on your desktop, and go to Control Panel -> System -> Advanced -> Environmental Variables.  Once you are in the Environmental Variables menu, go to the bottom of the dialog, under the section labeled "System Variables", and hit "New".  This is where you will enter all of the CAT variables.  The first line called "Name" is where you input everything to the left of the equal sign, and the second field - called "Value" - is where you enter everything to the right of the equal sign.

To change the resolution, you just need to go back to Control Panel -> Display -> Setting.  Change the resolution as needed, and you should be good to go.

Hope that helps.
