MV motor direction tester

Can anyone recommend a tester that can be used on any 3 phase system motor, prior to startup, so that wrong phase direction and rotation of shaft is eliminated ??

RE: MV motor direction tester

Decouple the driven equipment. Bump test the motor to note the rotation direction. Swap any two supply leads for direction change. Repeat the bump test to verify the direction.

Thanks Edison123
Some of the drives that we are away to commission are upto 6000 kw so after all the alignments are in place don't think its good practice to upset the "heavy spanner brigade"
by asking them to split the drive couplings again !!

I have heard that there is a test set available that cold checks the windings so that supply conductor swapping is not required as you get correct rotation first time.... I havent personally seen this test set - hence the thread for feed back and recommendations of any good testers.

Thanks for the feed back guys - most appreciated by us on remote site !! We are ordering 1 of each type that have been recommended and see how it works out.
