How do you edit a feature of an assembly that is imported into SW from Autocad. In the feature manager tree there is an IMPORTED icon for every part but when I try to edit a feature a dialog box opens prompting to open a file and the default file type is IGES?  HELP

RE: IGES format imported into SW

Do you have the Feature Recognition module in SW? If so use it when importing the part files.

cheers

No I don't have the feature recognition module and when you search the SW website ... Nada...???

RE: IGES format imported into SW

FeatureWorks is the add-in you need. Otherwise you can simply make Dumb Geometry into smart geometry.

RE: IGES format imported into SW

There are actually a few things you can do to really edit imported geometry, such as replace face, move face, delete face (for solids) and untrim, delete hole, delete face (for surface).

I have a user group presentation on working with (meaning editing) imported geometry without using the "quirky" FeatureWorks.
