Modeling fatigue with ABAQUS/CAE?

Modeling fatigue with ABAQUS/CAE?

Hi, is it possible that we can model the fatigue behavior of materials with ABAQUS/CAE? It is dynamic loading applying to a sample continually.

RE: Modeling fatigue with ABAQUS/CAE?

I've only looked into it once and never tried it, but I believe u can do it with a "Explicit" analysis

RE: Modeling fatigue with ABAQUS/CAE?

ABAQUS/Explicit will allow you to account for the time variation of the load, but I don't believe that there is a specific fatigue analysis type in ABAQUS.

If you have some S-n info (stress vs cycles to failure) for your material, you can make an educated guess as to the likely fatigue life of a part.  Look in "Mechanical Engineering Design" by Shigley - there's quite a good chapter on designing for fatigue life.
