Reactor Pressure Drop
Reactor Pressure Drop
(OP)
Hello..!!!!Guys..!!!!
How are you ?
Liquid Phase Hydrogenation with pd/pt based Catalyst Slurry Circulation technology for production of Aniline from Nitrobenzene.Over a period of time Aniline Plug Flow reactor with around 30 no. of trays got high pressure drop this might be due to Aniline Tar generation --How to minimize it ?
Pl. give your ideas/suggestions.
Thanks..

Thanks and Hoping cooperation from all members.
RE: Reactor Pressure Drop
I know practically nothing about aniline production, slurry reactors, or the tars that might be produced. I read a couple pages on line- sounds interesting. I would like to know a bit more about the reactor layout.
As this reaction sounds pretty exothermic. Usually I think localized reactor hot spots, or stagnant zones are at the root of the problem. How is heat removed?
Perhaps you will soon shutdown to take a look- when you do, you might consider clearing methods which have a better chance to preserve some forensic evidence (water wash vs steam, etc). This data may better help you mitigate or remediate in the future.
best of luck,

RE: Reactor Pressure Drop
Yes,it is exothermic reaction.Heat is removed through water that is produced during reaction.Direct cooling method. When we clean through Water wash it usually observed sodium,Calcium ppm. These might be through Nitrobenzene. Not sure.Other chances is that due to some byproduct formations like reaction of Nitrobenzene & Aniline---Leads to some diphyeniline amine products.(Not Sure). But this impurities are soluble in Hot Aniline--it is observed. But i cannot lead to conclusion ,exact cause and possible solution to avoid frequent cleaning of Reactor or to reduce high pressure drop after few operating days.
Thanking you,
