PDMWorks Attribute in Part File Name

PDMWorks Attribute in Part File Name

PDMWorks Attribute in Part File Name

(OP)
Hello,

Does anyone know a way to have one of the PDMWorks check-in attribute labels (e.g. the description)appear in the file name?

Specifically, I would like to see in my assembly tree not just the part number that the file is named, but the description field from PDM Works.

Example:
File Name       Description
62206-164,     Adapter

~Jeff~

SolidWorks 2006 SP3.1 on WinXP SP2
Pentium(R)4 CPU 3.60GHz 1.00GB of RAM

RE: PDMWorks Attribute in Part File Name

I am not aware of a way to incorporate file parameters directly into the filename.  However, you can easily display both the filename and description in your SolidWorks BOM or a PDMWorks report.

RE: PDMWorks Attribute in Part File Name

If you click on "Select Labels" icon (next to the refresh button) you can select any or all of the following to be displayed in the PDM tree:
Document Name
Revision
Number
Status
Description
Owner

Selecting document name and description should show what you want.
