Frequent pump gland leaks of Bitumen handling pumps
we have three screw type pumps handling bitumen at 280 deg c and 3 kg/cm2g pressure. We have put gland packings of Chesterton make withstanding upto 600 deg c. Glands are being cooled by putting LP steam for quenching.
After replacing glands, pump is failing again after 6-8 days due to pump gland major leaks.
If any one can help me out with this problem ?
