How to insert Excel chart in Autocad 2000 drawing

How to insert Excel chart in Autocad 2000 drawing

(OP)
I am using the "OLE object" command to insert an Excel spreadsheet into my autocad 2000 drawing.  This is a nice feature because I can edit the excel file from the drawing. The problem is that sometimes the bottom half of my Excel file is chopped off.  I've tried everything I can think of to get it to insert the entire spreadsheet without luck.  Any ideas?

RE: How to insert Excel chart in Autocad 2000 drawing

How large is the spreadsheet?  I use this feature extensively also.  I find that having the Excel worksheet open during the copy/paste helps.  My charts are at most 55 rows so far.  The clipboard may limit the amount of information that can be copy/pasted.  Clipboard extenders may help.

Thanks IFR.  I think the clipboard has enough capacity because I can paste the same thing in Word and it all gets pasted. But something in Autocad is limiting how much gets pasted and I don't know what that is.  Any other thoughts?

Not sure how you do it.  I highlight all the cells in Excel, go Edit/Copy and then in AutoCAD Edit/Paste.  Is that how you do it?  Have you looked on Autodesk's web site for help?

That's pretty much how I do it.  I'll drop by the Autocad website for their thoughts. Thanks

RE: How to insert Excel chart in Autocad 2000 drawing

I've done this before, and tried to put viewports where they would pick up individual cells of the spreadsheet.  Unfortunately, editing the spreadsheet shifts things around- a major disappointment.  Don't know why, but it did.

Thanks folks, I took IFR's advice and went to the Autocad website and found out the answer.  It's a matter of playing around with the row heights and column widths. By changing my row heights I was able to paste spreadsheets that had been previously truncated.
