Floworks: Surface Parameters for a valve disc (torque calc.)

Floworks: Surface Parameters for a valve disc (torque calc.)

(OP)
HELLO TO ALL!

In order to calculate the torque (given from the fluid) on the disc surface of a valve that lies in a piping, I have selected the function "Surface Parameters" in the Results Menu, but I got some unexpected results about the "Integral parameters".

Particularly I need some explanations about the following items :

-Force [N]: It seems that the three components of the force have been calculated considering the fluid pressure upon the disc surface less the "ambient pressure" defined in the general settings. Does anybody know how the three Force components have been calculated and what about the sign?

-Torque [N*m]: How can I define the rotation of the disc surface? Has been the torque calculated starting from the resultant force upon the selected surface? Is it possible to highlight the point where the resultant force is applied?

-Surface area [m^2]: What's the meaning of this parameter? If I select a surface parallel to the x-y plane, why a component in z direction is present?

My COSMOS Floworks version is: 2004 PE SP2, Build 532.

Please take also a look at the thread559-128573 within this Forum.
