How to Export Line Types from dwg File?

How to Export Line Types from dwg File?

How to Export Line Types from dwg File?

(OP)
Hi all

I created some custom linetypes yesterday and saved them in the acad.lin file.  However, our server updates our cad installations every morning, and overwrites our support files on our local drives each morning (which I just discovered).  Anyway, I have a dwg file with the linetype definition in it, but I can't find any way to export the linetpye definition to a .lin file.  Anyone know how I can do this, or see the actual coding so I can copy and paste?

Thanks in advance.

There's a routine to do this at www.turvill.com

Since your IT department sees fit to do what they feel they must, how about using the DesignCenter to transfer the linetype definitions to a template drawing?

Thanks all for the suggestions.  In the end, I found it fairly quick to recreate the linetypes from scratch, as I sort of remembered what I had to do.  ANd this time, I have saved my customizations in non-standard files.

Thanks again.

You can copy the original acad.lin (?) file to another folder/directory and edit it.  From the format command, you can easily load the new *.lin fine and select the line type you want to assign to a particular level...
