Exporting Assemblies in iges
Exporting Assemblies in iges
(OP)
We have ran into a problem with exporting Catia V5 assemblies with iges. What is happening is that parts that are positioned in assembly are moving to there design position when exported. This has caused us a lot of problems because we use the same parts in many different locations in the assembly. Any ideas on how we can export assemblies and have the parts stay in the same location as placed in the assembly?
Thanks for the help

Secondly, for retaining product structure, the better method is to use the STEP format. I understand that you may not have it, but if you are in the habit of exporting assemblies, you may want to get a STEP plugin, or another program for the translator.
IGES is not Catia's strong suit. I have a rather dim view of the IGES translator in Catia, as a matter of fact.
Does it do this to you constantly, or is it an isolated occurrence?

If you can ever convince your company to spend a bit of money to upgrade their capabilities, check out Kubotec KeyCreator. They've got a very good translator package, and it works well with Catia output. Not to mention, it also allows for multiple translation options, and provides some good fill-in functionalities for those expensive Catia licenses that you want, but don't have.
You can get the ST package (Standard with Translators) for less than $6000 - which is cheaper for an entire design plus translation package - than the STEP plugin for Catia. (retail $6500)
Anyway, it's not exactly the answer that you asked for, but I thought that I might just throw that in, just in case...
