Continuous electric annealer

(OP)
I have a multi-die, wire drawing machine which has an inline electric annealer section, with no controls. I plan on designing new annealer controls, utilizing a three-phase AC power controller, phase-angle fired, into the primary of a step-down transformer. My question concerns the "square-root" relationship between line speed and the input to the primary of the power transformer. Can anyone provide some clarification as to this relationship. Thank you.
