Underwater Concrete (Tremie)
Underwater Concrete (Tremie)
(OP)
Do any of the national codes, standards, and specifications (i.e. ACI, AASHTO, FHWA, etc.) specifically address or provide a minimum temperature requirement for the water in which the concrete will be placed in and cured in for an underwater concrete (tremie) pour? If so, what are the sections?
I have found recommendations and individual state specifications that recommend the water temperature to be at least 35 degrees Fahrenheit.

RE: Underwater Concrete (Tremie)
"Concrete should not be placed in water having a temperature below 35 deg F. because it will harden very slowly, and when the water temperature is below 45 deg F., the temperature of the concrete when deposited should be between 60 and 80 deg F. Care should be exercised not to have the initial temperature of the concrete too high because tests show that the strength of concrete is impaired if made much above 80 deg F."
