Inspection of Distillate / Diesel Storage Tanks

Inspection of Distillate / Diesel Storage Tanks

(OP)
I have two relatively new 9500 tonne diesel storage tanks on my site - they are fixed roof, internally supported carbon steel, designed to BS 2654, and have an internal coating over the floor and up the wall for 2 metres.

I would like to know what is good industry practice with regards to inspection of such tanks and how often inspection should be carried out? Also are there tests that can / should be carried out to detect bacterial growth in the fuel?

I have seen ultrasonic inspection done on tank floors and tank walls - how often should this be done?

Thanks,
Irish Al

RE: Inspection of Distillate / Diesel Storage Tanks

I suggest that you refer to API Standard 653 for the subject of tank inspection.  EEMUA-159 (I think that's right) is the European equivalent.
