Problems with Javelin PropertyLinks

Problems with Javelin PropertyLinks

(OP)
Does anyone using Javelin PropertyLinks have a problem like this?

'Configuration Specific' values are not visible on-screen when you open PropertyLinks for a part or assembly. The values can be viewed if you open the properites window in the 'File' drop-down menu and also are included in the Bill of Materials when they are referenced.

Another problem I just discovered is if you open up PropertyLinks for a part or assembly and edit or add anything at all in any field all of the 'Configuration Specific' values for that part are erased.

Javelin is working with me to solve this but nothing has worked yet. I wondered if anyone out there has also experienced this and knows how to fix it.

If you haven't heard of PropertyLinks, here's a link to Javelin's website:

Thanks!

RE: Problems with Javelin PropertyLinks

(OP)
Javelin figured out what was wrong:

Windows XP was set up to "hide extensions for known file types". This is the default setting in Windows XP.

PropertyLinks stores the configuration specific properties of an item in a file with the same name the item has. With the hide extensions option picked, PropertyLinks can't find the file with the correct extension so it assumes there aren't any configuration specific properties for the item.

I went into Windows Explorer, picked the Tools drop-down menu and picked 'Folder Options...'. Go to the 'View' tab and look under 'Advanced Settings:'. Make sure the 10th item down (Hide Extensions For Known File Types) ISN'T checked.

Problem solved!

Scott
