PDF orientation

PDF orientation

My .SLDDRW is oriented "Landscape". So it prints Landscape.

But when I save it as .PDF file, and than open with Acrobat7.0, the .PDF "sheet" is ALWAYS "portrait" and the dwg in it is "Landscape", no matter what I tried to do.

Any clues how to force the .PDF "sheet" to be "Landscape" as well ?

print setup, landscape, then pdf

Nope, does NOT work

RE: PDF orientation

Is it only this file? If all files, then check printer settings. If only the one file, try on other PC.

Tried both - makes no difference

RE: PDF orientation

Have you tried printing to a file using the Bluebeam or any other PDF printer device. You get more options that way. The Save As > pdf method is the quick no-frills way.

Please explain in more detail - I don't get it.

BTW, I am NOT printing, just creating .PDF file using SW2005 SP4.0  and  Save As ....PDF

I also noticed, that even though I set Landscape in the page set up and save (no print though), the Landscape is there, but AFTER I Save As ...PDF, and than check Page set up, the setting is - PORTRAIT.

Why the hell the Save As ...PDF changes that (i.e. from Landscape to Portrait) ?????

RE: PDF orientation

Have you tried all the suggestions in the threads CBL referenced?  I'm not sure if this is the same problem I've had in the past, but this fixed my problem:

Another thing to try is to make sure that you have the permissions set up correctly on the Bluebeam PDF printer.

Access the printer through the Control Panel, go to Properties, and on the Security tab make sure that your users have the ability to Manage Printers and Manage Documents.  We ran into this problem here and changing the printer setup fixed the problem.

BTW, if I try to Save As  .JPEG, it looks normally

There is NO security tab - here are the tabs I found in my Bluebeam PDF Printer Properties Window:

- General
- Sharing
- Ports
- Advanced
- Color Management
- Device Settings

RE: PDF orientation

The PDF printers aren't physical printers ... just software "devices". You can create a PDF by sending (printing) a file

to any of the ones you may have. (Bluebeam, Adobe, pdf995, etc).

File > Print, select PDF printer of your choice, choose whatever options you want under the Properties and

Page Setup sections and then OK

RE: PDF orientation

Do you have administrator privileges on your machine?  If not, that probably explains why you don't have a security tab.

No, I do not.

RE: PDF orientation

I'd suggest getting an admin to tweak those settings and try generating your PDF again.

Kina "not very clear enough for a dummy", but anyway, my admin is back and after about half an hour of trying and swearing we managed to get it working.

It looks like on XP Professional you need to be set as a Power User to have your printer settings being accepted by the OS.

Thank you guys for the help !!
