Blowdown

(OP)
I would like to know how the blowdown process is controlled in a nuclear steam generator. What type of control is used form an Intrumentaion point of view.

RE: Blowdown

If you are looking for specific instrumentation types or brands, you are likely to find a wide array among operating plants.  In general, there is a simple feedback control system that analyzes the blowdown of the steam generators for chemical specifications and radiation.  If the secondary side water (as measured just above the tubesheet) is chemically different than desired, steps are taken to remedy the chemical makeup of the water.  If signifacant radiation is detected, that is another story.  If you are looking for different information, you should probably be more specific with your question.
