cosmetic threads in weldments ?

cosmetic threads in weldments ?

cosmetic threads in weldments ?

(OP)
I'm having another issue with cosmetic threads. When using a weldment say I have 2 plates welded back to back and on one face I put a tapped hole tell the feature to go through all and select all bodies from the list.  The cosmetic threads will go thru the first plate but not the second.  The hole shows all thru both plates, but the cosmetic threads only appear thru the first plate. Is any one else having this problem, or does any one know how to fix this ?
sw 2006 sp 3.1 wildcat vp880 drivers from sw page.

RE: cosmetic threads in weldments ?

It's actually not good practice to tap through multiple plates, which is probably why SW doesn't cater for it. It is better to have a clearance hole on the outer layer.

However if you need to, you may be able to add a cosmetic thread manually to the inner plate hole edge.

cheers

RE: cosmetic threads in weldments ?

Jamaz17,

This is a known problem.  It also occurs in assemblies.  It was there when I started using SW2000.  My enhancement request still must be on the back burner.  You will have to do as CBL suggests and add the thread manually.  If you use holecallout in the drawing you will have to hand edit the note to display the correct thread depth.
