SW2006 SP3.1 - Macros 'flaky'?

SW2006 SP3.1 - Macros 'flaky'?

SW2006 SP3.1 - Macros 'flaky'?

(OP)
Have any of you noticed any odd behavior when running macros in SP3.1?  Things like 'program busy' dialogs, speed issues, etc.?  We've all just upgraded to SP3.1 and we're experiencing some of these things, but there's some other things going on that could also be affecting this.  I'm trying to rule stuff out... any info would be appreciated.  Thanks,

Brian

I don't think you're going to get much of an answer, unless it's written in Chinese.

SP3.1 is only required for Chinese versions of SolidWorks.
As far as macros in SP3.0, absolutly no problems here.

I think that 3.1 includes 3.0 plus the Chinese stuff--after 3.1 came out, I didn't have the choice to download 3.0. I guess then that my question applies to either (3.0 or 3.1).

brrian,
Are your macros on a server? It almost sounds like a network or Windows issue. Also, try a repair on SW.

They're not--they're local to each machine, but the work files (drawings/assemblies/parts) are on the server.  I do think it's a network issue, but I want to rule out some other stuff first and thought it would be a good idea to ask.  Thanks for the reply,

Brian

RE: SW2006 SP3.1 - Macros 'flaky'?

If you want to rule out stuff, and the problem only occurred after installing 3.1, why not uninstall 3.1 & try 3.0 on a test machine. If it is no longer available from SW site, your VAR should be able to supply it.

cheers

RE: SW2006 SP3.1 - Macros 'flaky'?

I have been seeing this for some time.  It is not new for this SP.  I also suspect it is due to network communication delays.  For me it most often comes up with macros that modify multiple files (I have some macros that open, change and then save many files).  In my case, both the macros and the SWX files are on the network.  I don't distribute macros locally because then I don't have to redistribute them when changes are made.  It's not a problem though - pressing "retry" allows the code to continue and I have never seen any actual problems with the execution of the code.  I wouldn't worry about this.

If you are a non-Chinese SolidWorks customer, there is no upgrade from SP3.0 to SP3.1 as there is no change to the non-Chinese SolidWorks version. SolidWorks 2006 SP3.1 is an update only for the Chinese language version.

Speaking of SP's, SP4.0 is right around the corner.
