What type of control relays are there

What type of control relays are there

What type of control relays are there

(OP)
My company has always specified plug-in type utilizing rectangular blades.  However the client we are working for doesn't like blade type contacts.  What other alternatives are there?

Thanks in advance

RE: What type of control relays are there

The other alternative is round pins.  These are common on plug in relays also.  What's the clients basis for objecting to a blade type pin?  Is it that they prefer a certain manufacturer since they have standardized on that brand to reduce inventory?

Thanks wbd.  The client just has their picky preference.  They listed a couple of manufacturers, but it was unclear as to the type of relay it was.  I will now sound a little more eductaed tomorrow as to why (an instrumentation engineer) we approved the manufacturers submittal in the first place.

RE: What type of control relays are there

Typically, the round pin types are considered more robusst, but the flat blde type are smaller, hense higher density of relays in a small area. So if your application is elow voltage logic circuits, the flat blade tend to make more sense. But if you are controlling larged magnetic coils and solenoid valves, the round pin are prbably a little better.

RE: What type of control relays are there

The blade type that replace the 8 or 11 pin round bases are nice because you don't need a new base for one extra set of contacts. The drawings don't have to be changed to reflect the new pin numbers, etc...

You can also go with fixed mounted relays that are hard wired. They take much more room than the "ice cube" style.
