sheet metal flatten and drawing config

sheet metal flatten and drawing config

(OP)
Basic question I hope,

I have a fairly simple sheet metal part I made, and now I want to flatten it. easy enough I choose "create flat pattern", great now I have a flat pattern and I notice that it is now a feature in my model tree.

so here is where it get a bit tricky, i now create a new drawing and bring in my model "in the flat state"... so I dimension my part and all is fine until I want to add a view in my drawing of the bent version of my part so when I go to choose the model I can only get the flattened version in my drawing how can I get both versions in my drawing.

help!!!

RE: sheet metal flatten and drawing config

Hi EMC

You need to make a family table of your part.

Create two states, one "bent" the other "flat". The only difference is that flat has the flat pattern feature whereas the bent does not.

Good luck!

RE: sheet metal flatten and drawing config

Right click outside the view on yoyr drawing and select Drawing Models, Add Model, and select the bent part model from the In Session folder. Now add your bent model views and dimension.
