HELP MOVING OBJECTS FROM ONE DRAWING TO ANOTHER
HELP MOVING OBJECTS FROM ONE DRAWING TO ANOTHER
(OP)
Im trying to make evacuation maps for the hospital I work at. Since I only need certain sections of the hospital for the maps I am copying parts from one file to the new one. When I paste the objects into the new file all of the layer info from the old file is brought over. So I move all of the objects to one layer and try to get rid of the old layers I don't need. But it wont let me. Also if I go and shut off the layer with the objects on it, everything disappears.. but yet I can still select the objects even though they are not visible. How do I get rid of the layers I don't want? Please help.. its really annoying to have all these layers I don't need. Makes things confusing.

RE: HELP MOVING OBJECTS FROM ONE DRAWING TO ANOTHER
Be sure you 'explode' the part(s) you copy to your new drawing. Otherwise, they will be a unit block, and the old layers will remain.

Once inserted, the drawing will be a block of the active layer in the new drawing. You can explode this layer to edit it or you can leave it as a block.
Remember to use the default scale for the insertion. You can also insert using the insert command or make a block using the wblock command.
