Truss Alteration, what are the consequences?

Truss Alteration, what are the consequences?

(OP)
I bought a new house in FL, newly built, had it inspected and noticed a floor truss that was altered beneath a master bathtub to give way for the drain pipe. Is this action within the residential building code of FL, if not how should this be fix and what documentation should I ask from the builder to assure that they repaired/modified or fixed the alteration? Help please.

RE: Truss Alteration, what are the consequences?

ANY truss which has been modified requires a structural review by a licensed professional engineer. Request a copy of the sealed/stamped calculation from the builder or contractor that made the repairs.

To protect your major investment in a new home, make copies of the calculation sheet(s) and place them;
-In a clear plastic zip-loc bag and staple it to the repair.
-Into your escrow/purchase documents.

Considerable money & time is lost when homeowners go to sell their properties and are faced with a new buyer requesting repair certifications at a later date...
