Placing Library Feature

Placing Library Feature

Placing Library Feature

(OP)
Good afternoon, I have a library feature which I use to put a flow stamp on a cylinder.  It works pretty good if you turn off the dim from the end of the sketch to the edge of the part.  It keeps erroring out when that dim is not suppressed, it can not find the cylinder edge and I have to manually install that dim now.  Any suggestions on how I could get that distance to work automatically?  Thank you in advance for any assistance.

RE: Placing Library Feature

The feature sounds like it wasn't created correctly, or has lost a reference. Have you tried re-creating it? Have you checked through its geometry to see if anything is wrong?

Is the cylinder edge a silhouette edge, or round end-face edge or ???

cheers

Thank you for the response, CorBlimeyLimey.  It is just a simple extruded cylinder and nothing else.  I have tried several time to remake the original sketches and saving them.  It is fully defined on the original, but when I try and bring it in as a library feature, that and only that dim is left dangling, literally.  It is in the reference directory also, Edge1,and it does hi-lite when you click on it in references, but when you click on the check it can not find that edge for hell or high water.

What version of SW are you using?
Can you post the feature file for those interested to investigate? See FAQ559-1177

Good morning, hope you had a good week-end.  The file is at:

I included a copy of the library file and a sample dumby part.  The distance in the library stamp has been suspended, in order to make it work.  Thank you again for the help and I am using SW2006sp3.0.

RE: Placing Library Feature

Unfortunately, I am running SW05 so cannot be of further help. Hopefully someone else will take a look for you.

You have to pick 2 of the 4 things that it cannot find when you insert it into a new part. It cannot find those because the ID's are not hte same as they were on the part you made in. It works fine when i pick the first 2 it requests. Plus in SW06 its much easier to determine what to pick with the preview you get of the library part.

Thank you for the help, Scott.  How do you select two at once?  I tried it couple of different ways, but I can only get mine to select one at a time.  I even tried to put a plane on the back of the cylindser and I still can not get that .062 to work.  I can manually set it, but that is as close as I have gotten.

Never mind, It is not working at all now.  I just tride it on a similar group of parts and it failed completely there.  I guess I will just draw each on one at a time, through all of them and the other version, too.  It should be a nicer 6 month or so project.  Thank you at least for everyone help.

I accidental figured out the selecting you are talking about.  It am what I was hoping, but it kind of works in an off beat kind of way.  Thanks.
