"Architectural" dims in SW ??

"Architectural" dims in SW ??

"Architectural" dims in SW ??

(OP)
Is there a way to display fractional dims in .SLDDRW as "architectural"  - stacked fractions ?

RE: "Architectural" dims in SW ??

Yes - wait a second - only in the drawing?  I think either case, go to 'Tools'/'Options' 'Document Properties' and select the 'Detailing' sheet, and the 'Units' sheet.  If you need more specifics, I can go into greater detail - but that should get you going.

Not realy, I knew that far - but what next ?

Mayby you did not understand my question:

I do NOT want the dim to show up as  1 9/16 (one inch and nine sixtinth) because some people will read that as nineteen sixtinth.

I would like to have it as 1 being twice the size and 9/16 printed with a HORIZONTAL line.

RE: "Architectural" dims in SW ??

Sorry, I knew it had to be more complex - but if you go to Tools/Options/Document Properties - and the 'Units' - section, it'll give you an option for 'Feet & Inches' (in 'Dual Units,' Feet & Inches is on the drop-down list)- now I'm not positive about how to change the Font Type, but if you monkey around with 'Annotations Font' and 'Annotations Display,' I'm sure that option is available.

RE: "Architectural" dims in SW ??

I'm starting to 'monkey' around with this myself - can't figure it out yet, Maybe someone more astute can help out?

RE: "Architectural" dims in SW ??

As far as I know, even SW06 does not have that capability. Probably because it is not called for in the standards that SW complies with. (Not sure about that though)

RE: "Architectural" dims in SW ??

SW isn't really setup for Arch. It's more of Mech design, so mech design doesn't require Arch dim's. I don't know if your designs are Arch., if not you should be using decimal anyway. If you are doing Arch, you may have to manually change the dims how you like. Do a search on the web, I don't know if there is a 3rd party software that will do what you like.

I am MECHANICAL, but there is kina "standard" (perhaps for old farts like myself) which says that you specify 1 9/16 drill if this is a "clearance" hole and not 1.56

RE: "Architectural" dims in SW ??

If you use the hole wizard to specify the hole as 1-9/16 then use hole callout in the drawing it will display the name of the hole, as it were. As far as how to get the fractions to show up with an underscore character instead of the slash, you will have to invent something.

RE: "Architectural" dims in SW ??

We do architectural type drawings also and NO SW will not stack fractions in a dimension.

This is one of the first things I found in the 2007 beta.  I was very happy.
