Dynamic Cone Penetrometer ASTM D6951

Anybody know where I can rent/borrow the DCP referenced in
D6951-03 "Standard Test Method for Use of the Dynamic Cone Penetrometer in Shallow Pavement Applications".  Thanks

RE: Dynamic Cone Penetrometer ASTM D6951

If that's the hand unit Sowers pioneered, you can buy one from http://www.durhamgeo.com/  Get the $40 STP399 book too as it's not a direct correlation to SPT.

PSlem:

Do you know where I can get the ASTM STP-399 book?  I can't seem to find it on the ASTM site or the other sites that sell standards.  Is it out of print or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks!

RE: Dynamic Cone Penetrometer ASTM D6951

I bought one from Durham Geo.  It's not listed anywhere.  It's not actually a standard, but a Special Topic Publication (STP).  It has charts for DCP to SPT in fill, residual and alluvial and points out interesting things like no point in going beyond N=12 on the DCP.

To PSlem:

Actually, I'm looking for a different one (there are several types and this was a subject of another thread here).

See this link: http://www.humboldtmfg.com/search.php?query=penetrometer&next=3

I'm looking for the one similar to model H-4219, which is specified in D6951 (near bottom of page in link).  I have one similar to the Model H4202 that we use for evaluation of foundation bearing materials.  Thanks for the info on STP399; I have been looking for it, too, and it's out of print.  I have Sowers' original paper, though.
