How do I edit the hatch for a material?

How do I edit the hatch for a material?

How do I edit the hatch for a material?

(OP)
I would like to edit the default hatch patterns for a few materials, so that when I add them to my models and create drawings, the hatch is what I need.

Thanks,

In addition, is there any simple way to scale a hatch?

Thanks,

Only by editing the Properties of the Areafill

So there is no way to change the default hatch for say aluminum.

CAn I create a new material with a custom hatch that can be associated to my part model?

RE: How do I edit the hatch for a material?

The definitions for the hatches are stored in the Drafting Standards.  See the FAQ's for information on Admin Mode and editing the Drafting Standards.

I found where I can add new hatch patterns in the standards, but those can only be applied after the fact (Edit properties).  What I would like to do is create new materials with the hatch patterns I desire, so I can associate the material to the part models and then create the 2D drawings and have the hatch patterns already set.  I don't want to have to edit the properties of all my section view cross-hatch.

Thanks,

you should have a look on your Material Catalog, open it and change the Hatching for each Material.

you might need to reset material in your parts in order to see the change in your CATDrawings.

Do I open the material catalog within Catia?  If so, are the changes universal or do they apply only to that file (Will all new parts that I apply the material to, use the new hatch style)?

Thanks,

RE: How do I edit the hatch for a material?

it depends if material were applied with link or not...

yes open Material Catalog in CATIA...

RE: How do I edit the hatch for a material?

I still can't seem to figure out how to change the hatch pattern for the out of the box materials.  I want to change the hatch for the aluminum.

Am I going obout this the right way:  I click the "Apply Material" icon.  Then right click on the material and select properties.  I then change the hatch, but there is no "OK" button.  The material window also says it is read only.

Anymore help you could give me would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

RE: How do I edit the hatch for a material?

You need to open the Material Catalog into the Catalog Editor.  Use File Open, not Apply Material.

You will need to navigate down to where it's stored.  It should be in your Install Path somewhere.  (c:\Program Files\Dassault Systems\B14\intel_a\startup\materials\Catalog.CATMaterial)

RE: How do I edit the hatch for a material?
