problem with objects being invisible

problem with objects being invisible

problem with objects being invisible

(OP)
I am new to Catia and am experiencing a problem where all of the objects in my part become invisible, except for datum planes and axes.  I can still see the items (ie sketches, pads, etc) in the spec tree, and when I edit them, they become visible, but as soon as I exit the editing mode (ie sketcher workbench) the objects become invisible again.

I don't have a clue what I've done to cause this problem...  Any hints on how to get my objects visible again?

I am using Catia V5R15 on Windows XP SP1; my graphics card is Nvidia QuadroFX 2000.

RE: problem with objects being invisible

Check in the specification tree if the body or reference is set to hide or if you have "only current body" active

azrael - the items are not set to "hide" in the specification tree, and in my "Tools > Options > Part Infrastructure > Display > Display in Geometry Area" nothing is checked.

I am still confused!  When I single-click on an item in the spec tree (like a sketch), it highlights in dashed orange in the geometry area, but if I click off it, it disappears.  I can only view the objects if I actually edit the object...  arrgh

RE: problem with objects being invisible

Try this.

Go to the Tools toolbar. The Only Current Body command icon should be de-selected (looks like 3 small black rectangles), not selected (small orange rectangle).

Selecting this icon will cause all geometry not in the current In Work Object to be hidden.

You can define the current In Work Object by selecting the object in the spec tree, right clicking it and selecting Define In Work Object.

hmm
so, I have "3 small rectangles", then I right clicked the part and selected "Define In Work Object", and now I can see my model!
still a little confused as to why I had to do this, but at least I have my model back.

thanks,
Abe

RE: problem with objects being invisible

In a large session, it can be sometimes handy to set and unset this switch, so DS gives you the option.  How it got turned on for you in the first place is a question, but many of these switches can get set accidentally.
