Building a Vioce Recorder

Building a Vioce Recorder

Building a Vioce Recorder

(OP)
I am building a digital vioce recorder, and I need some help on the building of the circuit and programing the device.

I want to use a digital signal processor to convert the data into a .wav format, then store it in RAM until the data can be move into an computer.

My question is how can I find the right parts for the job, and  how do I go about programing the processor to do the job?

If anyone can give me some advice it would be appreciated
Thank you

RE: Building a Vioce Recorder

Check the microchip.com site.  Especially the dsPic stuff.

Also look TI's site for their nice DSPs. They ARE The DSP people.

Also Analog Device's BlackFin stuff is very nice and worth a look.

A fast way up the learning curve is to get a development board from one of these companies.

You need to look at the finished price/costs associated with each of them.  You also need to look very carefully at the development tools available and what they cost.. This could rapidly remove certain selections from the running.  You want to check this nearly first before you spend a bunch of effort and fall in love with a device that demands a $5K piece of software to even get to "Hello World".

RE: Building a Vioce Recorder

The quality of the sound and the length of the recording are the project input number one.  What are they?  There are very cheap solutions on the market.  Chips targeted specially at doing this.  It depends on what you want to do.
