Driving Piles Over Marshland

Driving Piles Over Marshland

Driving Piles Over Marshland

(OP)
I'm investingating the process needed to construct a recreational dock over marshland at my property in coastal georgia.  Does anyone know what special equipement would be used in order to drive piles over marshlands??

Are regular drop hammer rigs used over marshlands??  It would seem that this would not be practical considering the difficulty of movements in shallow waters and the impact on the marsh grasses.

Does anyone have experience constructing over marshland?  I'd be interested to learn if this is something I could partly do on my own or whether I should hire a dock builder for the whole project.

RE: Driving Piles Over Marshland

Helical piers are relatively common for walkways over marshy areas.  Atlas and Chance are a couple of manufacturers.  You should be able to search it out on google or something similar.

You might look into a tripod mounted auger to pre drill and then place pile. Pneumatic auger is hand operated, limiting disturbance to only the immediate area of work.  Annullus is filled with pea stone or similiar material. Try a single pile type of bent to limit disturbance.
