editing dxf drawing error

editing dxf drawing error

editing dxf drawing error

(OP)
How do I edit an error on a specific line of the text
file for a dxf file to repair the file for insertion?

Message reads "No layer specification for this object on
line 4432".

RE: editing dxf drawing error

Open the DXF in Word, scroll to the offending line, modify and save as text only format. Of course, you will need to know exactly what to put there to fix the problem, and I cannot offer advice for that, since I am not familiar with the drawing you are attempting to repair. There are other alternatives however, You can download IntelliCAD from htp://www.cadopia.com and open it from there, IntelliCAD opens files that AutoCAD won't and allows you to save them to just about any version. Another alternative is to go to http://www.opendwg.org and download the dconvert program to convert DWG to DXF and DXF to DWG. You can then use the recover command in AutoCAD to fix the offending error.

RE: editing dxf drawing error

As Striker says, go to the said line, look for layer name a few lines above or below it, then to a global Find/Replace, replacing that layer name with layer 0. This ought to work without knowing the exact structure of a DXF file.

RE: editing dxf drawing error

You can also do a recover on the .dxf file under "drawing utilities" on the "file" menu. Your particular problem is usually easily fixed by the parser. I wouldn't reccomend editing the file by hand unless you are accustomed to the data structure
