Problems with Search Paths in Config.pro

Problems with Search Paths in Config.pro

(OP)
Hi Folks,

I have found that the search path in Config.pro will not recognise spaces in the names of folders.

For example

C:/Year 2000/Data    will not work , while
C:/Year2000/Data    works fine.

Why is this so?
I can rename all the folders in the search path to solve this, but is there an easier option?

Any comments welcome!

RE: Problems with Search Paths in Config.pro

You are right, no spaces are allowed for ProE to read the search paths.

Why? I guess we need to ask the programmers.

You cant use wildcards in the search_path names. But I do recall that there was an option to search folders recursivley. This may help you out.

Else, you will have to rename.

But there is a work-around.
1-Create the search_path for the folders with the spaces.
2-Save your config.pro file.
3-When you open ProE, simply reopen and APPLY the same config.pro file.
4-Now you can read those folders with spaces.
5-Make a mapkey to OPEN and APPLY the config.pro file.

RE: Problems with Search Paths in Config.pro

I don't have Pro/E on the machine in front of me, but try putting the folder name in quotations. I would imagine it would then take the whole string. But then again I'd have to try it to be sure..

RE: Problems with Search Paths in Config.pro

Another option is to create a search.pro file with all of the paths in (in quotes if there are spaces) & use the search_path_file command in the config.pro to point to it.

RE: Problems with Search Paths in Config.pro

The WHY is that search pro's started when Pro/E was mainly UNIX based.  Any good admin (Windoze or UNIX) will tell you to use the "underscore" in place of a space.  In UNIX, it won't even allow you to use a space.

I use underscores today on Windoze machine due to habits and I havent had any problems.
