Culvert Question

Culvert Question

Culvert Question

(OP)
ALthough not a true bridge question, still hope some one can help.

I am looking for the proper culvert material to use in the following situation:

Cover = 70ft
Size = 7' dia
Environ = Marine (50 feet from ocean)
Note: emergancy situation, so a custom concrete does not work

With the extreme cover and marine enviro, do you know of a "special" HDPE that can take 70' of cover when it is 84" diameter?

RE: Culvert Question

What is the elevation?  Is it opened up?  "Culvert" 50 feet from the ocean with 70 feet of cover sounds kind of ... unique.  There might be some PVC truss pipe, but I doubt if there is an HDPE that will work.  Sounds like a job for RCP.

More details?  Where is this?  OC?  Sounds interesting.

Going with a Polymeric Coated 8 ga. Galvanized pipe with a concrete Inlay.....I hope to get the service life required

The facts are correct....70' of fill on top of the pipe, and the creek that it carries is tidally influanced, and gets ocean water in the pipe......
