converting a .sel file into a .fil file

(OP)
Dear all,
i am trying to convert a .sel file into a .fil file. The necessity has arisen because Abaqus/explicit writes only into a .sel file(selected results file) and Abaqus/standard cannot read from the .sel file directly.
it canbe done in the following way.
$$ abaqus job=job_name convert=select

and i get the following error

$$ ABAQUS JOB test
BEGIN FILE CONVERSION
Begin Selected Results Translator
Wed 11 Jan 2006 04:43:45 PM CET
Run /opt/abaqus/6.4-5/exec/select.x
***ERROR: ABAQUS Data Storage Manager error
 ***ERROR: par_Open, Open Partition
***ERROR: NoPar, Partition not found in folder
Wed 11 Jan 2006 04:43:49 PM CET
ABAQUS Error: Selected Results Translator exited with an error.

i do not know, why it is giving the error. is it because i am not giving some necessary information?

would be greatful for any directions.
regards
Raag
