Small, low pressure, stainless safety valve

Small, low pressure, stainless safety valve

Small, low pressure, stainless safety valve

(OP)
Can anyone help me source a small pressure relief valve for gas service? I've tried all the manufacturers I can think of, but have turned up nothing. The requirements are:
Set pressure : 0.45 barg.
Max accumulated pressure 0.5 barg.
Size 1/2" or 1" inlet.
Relieving area is about 25 mm2.
Materials : Stainless (essential), PTFE (ideally)
Balanced type.

Flow rate is relatively low, and I'm stuck with an existing vent line, which gives a high built up back pressure. Larger balanced types would chatter excessively due to the low flow. The smallest pilot operated valve I've found is 2", and seems rather over the top.

Any advice?

Thanks

Ian

RE: Small, low pressure, stainless safety valve

Does it have to be ASME certified?  Did you look at Fisher?  This sounds like they may have something more appropriate.  My memory is telling me you should check out the 98 series of pressure relief valves first.

Good luck,
Latexman

RE: Small, low pressure, stainless safety valve

Just as a general comment, at 0.45 barg (6.5 psig) I don't think you can get an ASME stamped (NB, UV) valve since that is outside the scope of the pressure vessel code (<15 psig).

Other than the Fisher relief valves, have you considered a non-reclosing type relief device such as a rupture disc or rupture pin valve?

Also, Consolidated makes a small balanced piston type valve, model 19000MBP that you may want to check....

I don't have experience with the 19000MBP but the one time I've seen it used was in a liquid, solvent service and, unfortunately, there were issues with the seal on the piston.

Please have a look at www.circle-seal.com here you should look for 500 serie
