Simple Pro E Question on customization

Simple Pro E Question on customization

Simple Pro E Question on customization

(OP)
I have never used PRO/E but I am trying to write some code to pull REV numbers and some other information from PRO/E and insert it in a table.

I know in Autocad I use VBA to write code , Is there a language to code PRO/E in?

If there is a programming language , Do I need to buy an external tool kit to customize it?

I need some basic tutorials on customizing PRO/E and what version of PRO/E do I require to write code?

Thanks for the help.

RE: Simple Pro E Question on customization

Are you pulling the data from the Pro/E file or a PDM system on top of Pro/E?

Pro/E and Pro/Intralink both have a toolkit application development environment that is written in C. there is also a JAVA interface to some Pro/I functions. I suppose you could also use SQL on the Pro/I database in Oracle.

PDMLink has a JAVA interface internally, but I don't know about getting to the data from the outside, except SQL to Oracle directly.
