Opening a step File

Opening a step File

(OP)
Does anyone know why I can not open a step file in Inventor 10.  It tells me that the translator is not available.  Any ideas?

RE: Opening a step File

Inventor is pretty bad at opening step and iges files. The file may be a newer version than IV can handle.

First option is to try to import them into mech desktop. The step translator in MDT seems much more robust.

I have had minimal success with step, and prefer .sat

There are also some translators out there that you can download a 30 day trial version (which will get you through this time).
