Chainning options

(OP)
I am familiarizing myself with the chainning command on NX3.
I was wondering if there are any options that would enable me to select a chain based on colour, plane, type of curve, etc.
I am trying to chain a flat flange to create an N-Sided surface, and the chain automatically wonders away from the desired perimeter, and I have no way of avoiding it.
All help is greatly appreciated!

RE: Chainning options

There was an option to chain in a plane, that would help in your situation. This would prevent the chain from looking at the material thickness edges as viable chain path directions.
