Drillstring Inspection - Shell standard

Drillstring Inspection - Shell standard

Drillstring Inspection - Shell standard

(OP)
We have been asked to review Shell drillsting inspection standard. My understanding is that Shell sold off their used drillstring inspection standard as part of their SQAIR to Proctor group, can someone confirm? Further, Proctor have now developed this standard as NS-1 for new equipment and NS-2 for used equipment inspections?

Is there any significant difference between this used drillstring inspection standard and that of DS-1 Level 5? I have copy of latter but not of former and do not want to wait 3 months for NS-2 CD-rom to be delivered via customs (Kazakhstan).

RE: Drillstring Inspection - Shell standard

Stuart- you're absolutely right, Shell's drill string specifications are now maintained by Fearnly Proctor Ltd (www.fearnleyproctorgroup.com) and NS1 is for new equipment and NS2 is the inspection standard.

I'd suggest you speak to one of the guys at Fearnly Proctor in Aberdeen who will be able to tell you exactly what differences there are between DS1 and NS2- the two people I've dealt with are Ray Proctor and Steve Minnoch.  The switchboard number is +44 1224 748600.
