Travel to Nigeria
Travel to Nigeria
(OP)
I am traveling to Port Harcourt Nigera to do a reliability evaluation of some compressor stations. I have been a lot of places around the world, but not Nigeria. I have talked to some people that refuse to go, and others that go all the time. Everyone who has been makes comments like "it is certainly a different world over there." Any advice for a newby to Nigeria? Thanks!

RE: Travel to Nigeria
A lot of it comes down to simply following some common sense; don’t flash large sums of cash on the street, stay away from dark alleys, hookers and drug dealers etc. Hire your cab and driver from a reputable company and not accept a ride from an unlicensed hack cab on the street.
Until you actually get there you will not know the truth of the situation. Just remember that in these places the political situation can turn in a dime and deteriorate quite quickly so always carry your passport and be ready to bolt from the country when that happens.

This sounds like an opportunity. Someone out there actually set up a meeting between two sets of scanners. This would be a waste of time unless you are there to watch the fun.

In China, they've prescreened some clinics and warrant them as OK.
One other thought: Make sure your vaccinations are up-to-date. Go see a travel doc but you should at least get your Hep shots, some anti-malarial meds, and perhaps a scrip for Cipro in case you get some wierd digestive bug.

Some of my associates go to Nigeria all the time with little complaint, others refuse to go under any circumstance. I suppose I won't really have an opinion until I get there, but I was hoping for some input outside of my own organization......
