(non-)ideal venting according to IGE/SR/25

(non-)ideal venting according to IGE/SR/25

(OP)
Hello everyone!

I'm in dispute with someone over meaning of ideal and non-ideal venting according to IGE/SR/25. Can someone please explain me what ideal and non-ideal venting mean?

As I understand ideal venting means that relief outlet is pointed straight upwards, so that most of the natural gas uppon relief goes upward. For ideal venting to occur the outlet must be unobstructed in vertical direction.

Non-ideal venting, as understand it, is not pointed directly upwards and results in dispersion in all directions from the outlet.

I appriciate your explanations/opinions. Thanks in advance.
