Megger Delta 2000 Power Factor test set problems

(OP)
We recently purchased a Megger Delta 2000 Power Factor test set and experienced problems immediately. Every time we used the unit we had either erroneous readings or the unit reported an internal error. We had to use a Doble M4100.

Megger supplied us with a loaner unit while ours was being “repaired”. After arriving at a customer location the loaner unit failed to work properly as well. Again we had to use a Doble M4100.

Our unit finally arrived after “repair”. We took the unit on a job and again the unit failed to test the transformer properly.

It appears the unit does not work well in an industrial environment. According to Megger harmonics are the problem but in one of the instances there were NO non linear loads in the facility.

If you use inverters or portable generators to operate test equipment in remote locations this unit will not work!

Megger finally refunded our money but only after a long draw out dialog.

Bottom line, we should have not strayed away from Doble. (with enough wrangling you can almost get the Doble M4100 for the price of a Delta 2000).
