ASME Sec VIII Div 1 vs BS 5500

(OP)
I have an ASME Sec VIII Div 1 pressure vessel.
Is the ASME tank close in design with respect to the BS 5500 code?
Or - depending on what aspect of design we are dealing with - some match up, and others don't?

RE: ASME Sec VIII Div 1 vs BS 5500

I no longer has a copy of BS-5500 to check, but my best memory about it is that it was similar to ASME VIII Div 2 in that it had higher allowable stresses than Div 1 had.

RE: ASME Sec VIII Div 1 vs BS 5500

PD5500 does not use joint effeciencies otherwise its pretty much the same as Div 1 pound for pound.
