Installation help
(OP)
I was about to install SW 2006 SP3 for Office and was looking around at my system and noticed a separate duplicate SolidWorks Explorer folder in my Start / Programs folder. There is also a SolidWorks Explorer in my SolidWorks 2006 SP2.1 folder.
I checked the Help/About in both Explorers and found this.
My 2006 SP2.1 folder has Explorer version 14.2.105
My separate Explorer folder has Explorer version 14.2.52
I placed a support call with my service rep but they are slow to respond, so I am asking you for help.
I have no Idea how or why this happened. I do still have an old 2005 installation. Can anybody please suggest what I should do?
I think I should
1) Copy settings wizard and manually check for any other custom files that may reside on my local computer. My templates and things are on a network location. So when I copy my settings it should take care of this. Is there a published list of commonly customized files to look for so I don’t miss anything on my lacal seat?
2) Uninstall all of SolidWorks and related installations
3) Clean my registry and Temp dir and then do a clean install of 2006 SP3. I only have a single seat so I installed directly off the original CD. When installing SP3 is it all-inclusive? Can I just install it and then pop in the appropriate original CD when it prompts? Or do I need to install the original and all service packs?
4) In the download of SP3 there are also optional downloads. EDrawings, Help, Explorer, and DWGeditor. I assume none of these are included with the core download, or could this be why I have a duplicate Explorer folder?
Thanks for your help

RE: Installation help
I wouldn't worry to much about it, but if you are uneasy about it. Then Uninstall everything and reinstall SW06 and be sure to change the install directory. I mean like add 06 to the end of "Solidworks" when it asks you for a SW isntall path. Then you will have one version of SW on your system along with SW explorer etc...
