RE: help with ugs NX3 background

Does anyone know why I cannot change Customer Defaults from File -> Utilities -> Customer Defaults in NX3. When I enter this option and I try to change something I get a info: You do not have access to User level defaults file. So the Default Level is User (Read Only), and there is no other option. How can I change this?
Pls help

Thanks alot

RE: help with ugs NX3 background

Interesting....2 questions in one thread.

Elanges,

If you want to match the colors exactly, you'll have to do one of two things.  1.) open the customer defaults file (ug_english.def OR ug_metric.def) that you were using for NX1 & see what those RGB values were set to, then make them the same in NX3.  2.) open an NX1 part file in NX3 & check the RGB values, then change the customer defaults setting in NX3.

To get to the customer defaults in NX3, you will pick File -> Utilities -> Customer Defaults.  The background settings are under the Visualization heading, then pick the Background tab on the right.  You'll have to be using the correct default level (user, site, group) for this to work.  Use the help documentation & play around with the settings, you won't mess anything up that can't be undone.

RE: help with ugs NX3 background

Elanges,

I left out a third method for setting the background color in you customer defaults for NX3.  According to the documentation, you can import pre-NX3 customer defaults files.  The steps to follow are a bit lengthy, so I'm not going to post them here.  But they are listed in fine detail in the documentation.  You will need your NX1 ug_english.def or ug_metric.def file to do this.

From the Documentation's Table of Contents, expand the Gateway topic.  Under the Gateway heading, choose Customer Defaults.  From the Customer Defaults Table of Contents, choose Converting Pre-NX 3 Customer Defaults Files & follow those steps.

thanks nkwheelguy, finally my problem solved.

by the way i have 1 more question. like this curently im using the nx3 for cam and some modeling for mould.
i have fast enuff system, athalon 3.0 memory 1gb 256mb graphic card.  but when i work with large file, or complex models.. my ug seems to be slow.. like when run the toolpath, or verify. even when culculating some cam process.

is there any setting to my system fast enuff to work with larger models

RE: help with ugs NX3 background

Hi,
Try to deactivate hardware accleration of your graphics card.If you feel any difference while generating tool paths then the graphics card is culprit!!
