Another Ball Joint question
Another Ball Joint question
(OP)
I constructed a simple ball joint and used a concentric mate to the two spherical faces. This works fine and gives me full 360 deg rotation, but the ball has a shaft sticking out of one side. How can I limit the mate so the movement of the ball and shaft in any rotational direction will stop when the shaft comes in contct with edge of the female ball joint

RE: Another Ball Joint question
thanks for the tip. I tried this and it works great. But can you turn on collision detection from a system level so its just always on if you want to?. It would also be cool if you could select geometry as a boundary option rather than entering a distance or angle for limit mates. In my case a concentric mate is good for the movement of the ball joint, but it would of been cool to just select geometry (edge or face) to establish the limits of movement. this would be similar to collision detection..
